A Story of Brokenness, Redemption, and the God Who Never Let Go
Welcome. I'm Jonathan Merchant, author of The Long Road Home: My Journey from Brokenness to Redemption. My story is one I never could have written on my own.
I served in the United States Army with the 1st Cavalry Division and deployed to Bosnia in 1999. Later that same year, at just 22 years old, my life changed in an instant when a devastating accident left me with a C6 spinal cord injury and quadriplegia.
But paralysis was only one part of my journey.
The years that followed brought broken relationships, addiction, anger, loss, isolation, and moments when I struggled to understand what purpose my life could possibly have. Yet through every mile of that long road, God was working — even when I couldn't see it.
The Long Road Home is the true story of that journey: from a young soldier whose life was suddenly shattered, through some of my darkest years, to discovering forgiveness, faith, family, purpose, and redemption through Jesus Christ.
My hope is that my story reminds you of one simple truth:
“No matter how broken your life may appear, God is not finished writing your story.”
